Massage Treatments

SWEDISH MASSAGE FOR RELAXATION

Full body Swedish style massage is designed to decrease muscular tension, promote general body relaxation and reduce emotional stress.

REMEDIAL MASSAGE THERAPY

Addresses specific problems in muscle tissue, fascia, tendons and ligaments.

Treatments may include Deep Muscle Therapy, Muscle Energy Technique, Accupressure and Trigger Point Therapy.

DEEP MUSCLE THERAPY

Treats the deeper layers of muscles, nerves and major vessels, which have been constricted.  Plays a major role in assisting a

more rapid healing process within the body.

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE

A hands on 3 dimensional application of sustained pressure and movement into the connective tissue in muscle of the body. It enhances joint and muscle mobility, and relaxes constricted fibres and fascia. Chronic problems particularly benefit from myofascial release, such as gynecological dysfunction, respiratory problem, irritable bowel , menstrual pain and dysfunction, urinary track problems and fertility problems.  Myofascial release is particularly helpful with muscle tendon contractions as found in cerebal palsy or acquired brain injury.

Children benefit greatly from this technique.

MUSCLE ENERGY TECHNIQUE (MET)

Muscle Energy Technique (MET) is a method of correcting skeletal alignment through the application of Hold/Relax

stretching for treatment of pain. This procedure invokes the activation of both the Golgi Tendon and the Stretch Reflex.

Both of these structures deep within our muscle fibres control muscle length, Integrity and joint flexibility. This involves

specialist stretching protocals such as Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitated Stretching, and takes into account

the source of the pain being reported by the client. Often this is not where the client is expriencing the pain.

With MET and appropriate testing, the qualified therapist is able to determine if the pain is being produced because of nerve, muscle or non contractile tissue pathology. This determination is vital not only for the client's wellbeing, but to ensure that the appropriate treatment protocols are employed. It also applies all the principles and techniques of Remedial, Myofascial Release and Deep Muscle Therapy. Muscle Energy Technique begins with a postural assessment and other testing to first determine the cause of your problem. From this the therapist can develop an effective treatment and rehabilitation programme.

REIKI

Reiki is a Universal Energy Science performed to balance the mind and body and promote self-healing through activating the body’s energy centers by aligning them with the Life Force..

Bowen Therapy

The Bowen Technique involves a gentle, rolling motion, with very light touches.
The rolls are supposed to either tighten or loosen off muscles depending on the way the move is done.

The practitioner will stimulate sets of points, often with two minute pauses, to allow the body to use the move and integrate it into the body's system.
The Bowen Technique is not a form of massage, though it does claim to release areas of built-up stress in the muscles, and clients describe experiences of profound relaxation after a session, often falling asleep after the first few moves.
